Muyerio Ergalez, c. 1992

Muyerio Ergalez Izalca (29 March, 1925 – 19 June, 1992) was an Altivebrian-Alconbrian politician, Alconbrian nationalist and diplomat, who is famous for opposing the Alconbria Liberation Council and instead hoped for a peaceful settlement. He is known as the Gandhi of Alconbria.

Ergalez was a high ranking member of the Alconbrian Action, but distanced himself from other Alconbrian nationalists when the Alconbrian War of Independence broke out, and moved to Nuevo Seville and established Independencia political party, which had around 400 supporters. Soon after the Battle of Los Guez, he met with Altivebrian President Felipe de Curtis and denounced the ALC as Soviet-backed terrorists, and urged the Alconbrians to not side with them. However, the ALC received overwhelming support from the Alconbrian community, resulting in many Alconbrians flocking to Los Guez to join the Military of Alconbria.

ALC Chairman Antonio Durán branded Ergalez a traitor. However despite this, Ergalez worked closely with de Curtis' successor Marcelo Vargas, and opted to act as a mediator. However, after the ALC faced numerous success in their armed campaign, Ergalez lost all support, and the Independencia was forced to close down only three years after establishment. Ergalez joined the New Conservative Party, but was exiled in 1989 after Vargas began clamping down on Alconbrians located inside Altivebrio.

After Xavi Kohler became President in 1990, he wanted to use Ergalez as a spy and forced him to join the ALC, but Ergalez refused. Ergalez was later arrested by the III under Kohler's orders after his family escaped to the Territory of Alconbria. In May 1992, Kohler agreed to free Ergalez and deport him to the Alconbrian territories. An Altivebrian civilian helicopter carrying Ergalez left Pala, but Kohler placed explosives on the plan, and wanted to blow it up as soon as it landed in Los Guez. The Valis Garantii discovered this attempt and wanted to shoot down the plane while it was flying, but Durán declined. The ALC warned the Altivebrians of retaliation if the plane exploded after landing, forcing Kohler to abort the plan, and instead had the pilot, an Altivebrian soldier to execute Ergalez mid-air, and the crew dropped the body over Alcacer and fled back to Altivebrio. Ergalez' body was recovered and was buried immediately with honours. The popular ballad, the Tragedy of Muyerio depicts Ergalez' life.
